Why I Write

My name is Kasey, and welcome to my blog. I am married to the love of my life and my best friend, Avery. Most of the images I will use here were taken by him or myself, but mostly him. He is a photographer and a darn good one! Click here to see more of his work. Okay, shameless plug over. We have a cat named Johnny. It’s kind of a funny story as to why he got this human name, which, maybe I’ll tell it sometime. Not too long ago, our son Levi was born. In short, he is the reason I write. However, throughout my adult life so far I’ve come across many moments that have caused me to reflect. Most of these moments are seemingly insignificant on the surface, yet they’ve caused me to deeply ponder the love God has for us. I write because I hope that maybe some of these moments would inspire others to recognize their own seemingly insignificant moments that God is speaking to them. I will warn you, my first few posts will be a little more significant than I am leading on. I have a desire to talk about the night Levi was born, a night that was quite traumatic for all involved and who know us. However, I continue to reflect on this night and ask the Lord why things happened the way they did.

Even if no one happens upon my page, I find it to be very healing to put these experiences into writing. It helps me process moments in life that meant something- whether traumatic, joyful, or seemingly insignificant, the Lord has used moments like these to teach me something. Most are reminders of His love for us. So in the words of St. Padre Pio, “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.” Though some of these moments were difficult to live through, there is something much deeper behind each one that I hope will help others and myself to grow in holiness as we ponder the great love of God.

Avery took this picture while on our honeymoon at the top of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. So no, that isn’t us in the picture. However, I wish we had caught up to those people to offer it to them.
